About
The first Bibens Ace location in Springfield, VT was founded in 1942 by Eric R. Bibens, a builder of fine homes. In 1972, he decided to expand the retail store to 6,500 sq. ft. and close the construction division. The store was a member of the Service Star Hardware co-op until 1982, when current owner Eric R. Bibens II purchased the business from his father and converted it to the Ace Hardware brand. In 1986, the original property was sold, re-opening in a newly-constructed 18,000 sq. ft. lot with a 12,500 sq. ft. retail space which remains in operation today.
At Bibens Ace Springfield, we serve both contractor and consumer business with a complete line of lumber and building materials, which allows us to supply our customers from start to finish for their remodeling and construction projects. We can supply all your needs from capping foundations to providing roof trusses, the composite decking on your porch, and replacement windows.
Additionally, we operate a glass and screen center to cut material for your house projects, as well as build custom screens and storm windows on-site. We also have a complete paint department with customized computer matching for Ace Paints and a full line of Benjamin Moore products. We always have a paint expert on staff who can answer all of your painting questions.
Don’t miss our power equipment department where we feature Husqvarna equipment and stock a complete line of chainsaws, trimmers, tractors and lawnmowers. We have a full-time service mechanic on staff to service Husqvarna products and most makes and models of other power equipment. Bibens Ace Springfield also fills propane tanks for forklifts, grills, and RVs, we carry a complete line of Blue Seal Feed, and we house a showroom dedicated exclusively to pet food, leashes and toys.

Through the backing of our distribution center with over 65,000 items and our four sister stores, we go out of our way to accommodate our customers’ needs. We’re our own buyers and we can get items here within a week, if not sooner. Few other retailers can match that combination.
